The basic mission of the Friends of St Davids is to offer residents of St Davids and vicinity, young and old - opportunities to meet socially. As we grow, we will find ways to contribute to making St Davids an even better place t o live.

The idea of a social club in St Davids was conceived when, in the summer of 2018, Dorothy Walker published her book “A Village in the Shadows”, which tells the story of St Davids from its earliest times. Following the launch of her book Dorothy met many people in St Davids, and during conversations with them, it became clear that the village needed a social focus. Dorothy and her husband Greg approached a group of friends to help organize an event close to Christmas. The result was an enjoyable wine and cheese reception in the Ravine Winery’s barrel cellar. Because we were unsure of the response from our community to this first event, we kept it small (60 people), and the evening was a great success. This first venture has encouraged the team to plan more events for 2019.

The Friends of St Davids (“FOSD”) is a not-for-profit organization that was initiated in September 2018. It has no formal affiliation with any other group. FOSD is informally organized with a volunteer leadership team that can be expanded as required. In addition, our social activities are made possible by a group of dedicated leaders, who organize activities such as wine tasting, luncheons, pub nights, Euchre, and Mah Jongg throughout the year.
